PLATFORM SELECTION GUIDE

Differential Drive vs Four-wheel Steering

Choose motion architecture around the task path and upper-module integration. SR-C platforms use differential drive; SR-X700 uses four-wheel steering and four-wheel drive. Architecture names do not replace confirmation of specific control capabilities.

Describe the Path Before Confirming Capability

Provide aisle and turning-area layouts, module dimensions, stop positions, desired body orientation and nearby people or equipment. If the relationship between path and body orientation matters, confirm the necessary commands, supported modes and configuration individually. Four-wheel steering and drive do not imply that every motion mode is available.

Include Interface Agreements in the Integration Plan

Both families support ROS 1 / ROS 2 hardware drivers and TCP/IP. Confirm the host system, message or command definitions, units, update rates, feedback, and responsibility for fault and emergency-stop handling. Agree ROS distributions and validated environments separately. A standard interface does not mean the customer application is already integrated.

Four Steps from Route to Validation

  1. Document routes, aisles, turns and stops alongside the module envelope and center of gravity.
  2. Describe path and body-orientation requirements; confirm the relevant control capabilities and configuration with the supplier.
  3. Choose ROS drivers or TCP/IP and agree responsibilities for commands, feedback and abnormal conditions.
  4. Validate communication and trajectories under agreed site and load conditions, starting at low speed, before application acceptance.
